FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What is consignment?

A: Consignment is a partnership between you (The Consigner) and us, a 3rd party (The Sweet Pea Shop) in which you provide us with your preloved items to sell. You as the consigner will then earn a portion of the sales. 


Q: How do I organize my items for consignment?

A: All items must be cleaned or freshly laundered. Please have all buttons buttoned and zippers zipped and snaps snapped. Items should be folded or laid flat when given to us.


Q: What if I have out-of-season items?

A: The Sweet Pea Shop accepts consigned items for all seasons, year-round. We may hold the consigned items for a period of one (1) year prior to advertising for sale.


Q: What happens to the clothes when their consignment period expires?

A: If a consigned item is not sold after 6 months (180 days) days of the Stock Date, you may:

  • Request that The Sweet Pea Shop donate the items.
  • Schedule a day and time designated by The Sweet Pea Shop for the item(s) to be picked up. If the items have not been picked up within 2 weeks of arrangement, they will become the property of The Sweet Pea Shop.

Q: What happens if I want my items back before the consignment period ends?

A: Prior to the 6 months (180 days), you may remove a consigned item from your account; however, you will be subject to a $2.00 processing fee for each consigned item removed. 


Q: Are you only online or is there an actual store:

A: We have a store! Come visit us at 24 Ontario St, Port Hope, L1A 2T6

There will be items available online that are not available in store due to limited space.

 

Q: Do you take strollers, car seats, high chairs, furniture etc?

A: Please email dallas@thesweetpeashop (along with pictures) to see if we are accepting items like this at this time. 

 

Q: How does The Sweet Pea Shop determine prices?

A:  We compare prices of similar items and of similar quality, demand and condition when pricing and use an internal Pricing Guideline. Most items will be 20% - 60% of the original ticket price. 


Q: Do you have any discounts/sales?

A: Any consigned items that remain unsold after 60 days will receive a markdown of 15%, and after 90 days will receive another markdown of 15%. None of the consigned items will be less than $2.00.

 

Q: What is the consignment split at The Sweet Pea Shop?

A: You may receive store credit on your account or direct payment via e-transfter* of 30% of the selling price for each consigned item sold.

*The balance in your account must exceed $5.00. A processing fee of $1.00 will be deducted from the balance of payment for each e-transfer under $15.00. Payments will be made on the last day of the month unless that falls on a day the store is not open, then the payment will be made on the next open business day.

Q: Are there any hidden fees?

A:  The Sweet Pea Shop may applied a $0.99 “Administration Surcharge” to all items consigned with us. This fee does not get applied to the consigner's 30% payout. This fee can be used in order to help keep our business running.
 

Q: What size of clothing do you accept? 

A: We accept 

  • Baby clothing: preemie and newborn up to size 24 months
  • Toddler clothing: sizes 2T to 4T
  • Kid clothing: sizes 4 to 12
  • Maternity and Nursing clothing


Q: 
Do you accept shoes? 

A: Yes! 


Q: Do you accept socks?

A: Yes, however, we will not purchase used socks from you. If you are willing, you can donate your socks and they will be sold for $1.00 with 100% of the profits going to a local charity of The Sweet Pea Shops' choosing.


Q: Do you accept stained clothing?

A: If an item is stained and you feel the stain can be removed, let us know. We will try to remove the stain for a $1.00 “Cleaning Fee”. If we are unable to remove the stain, we will discuss it with you and see if you would like to add them to the  “Proceeds Bin” where the item will be sold for $2.00 and 100% of the profits will be donated to a local charity of The Sweet Pea Shops choosing.
